The Best for Men at Barber Connect 2014
The best of barbering and male grooming descended upon the impressive Celtic Manor Hotel in Wales this weekend.
2000 Barbers congregated at Barber Connect to see spectacular demos, seminars and brand new products.
It was a sea of slick hair and edgy beards – think rock stars with clippers.
With major brands Wahl, Jack Dean and Barber Blades sponsoring the event Barber Connect had everything a man needs to look sharp, cool and primed for action.
There has been a renaissance in British barbering and the rise of the authentic barber shop has been phenomenal in the last few years.
Whether you prefer classic gentlemen’s refinement or achingly cool urban edge it was all there at Barber Connect.
The Godfather of barbering, the legendary and multi-award winning Chris Foster hosted the main stage.
Inspiring and deeply passionate about the craft, Chris is on a personal crusade to change the perception of British Barbering. He’s also wickedly funny in person.
With an ‘A-list’ clientele and inaugurated into the Barbering Hall of Fame he continues to work with real clients, from builders to brokers.
The crème of the barbering industry graced the stage including the incredible BOMB Squad – Barbers of Modern Britain (more on them in my next post) Sheriff Mehmet and his classic art of shaving, as well as rising star Miguel Gutierrez – aka The Nomad Barber – who has just returned from filming barbers and barbershops in 20 countries around the globe.
There were also cutting edge, independent brands at Barber Connect, with some of the very best products for men.
- APOTHECARY87 –
This vintage inspired brand is a premium range of shaving, beard and moustache care products.
The new Milly’s Vanilla & Mango beard oil smells utterly divine. This blend of natural oils softens and conditions your beard as well as helping to protect your skin – definitely set to become a cult classic.
Simply massage a few drops into your beard and voila – perfection.
- Morgan’s Pomade
If you’re not quite ready to embrace grey hair then Morgan’s Pomade is perfect for you.
The unique formula gradually darkens grey hair naturally, without the fake intensity of some men’s hair dyes.
Use it as a styling product – just the same way as you would a hair gel or wax. Not only does it darken grey hair, it also revitalizes mature hair bringing back life and lustre for healthy, strong hair.
- The Bluebeards REVENGE
The Bluebeards Revenge Luxury Shaving Cream won the FHM 2013 Grooming Awards, which backs up their bold claim to be the ‘finest shaving cream in the world today’.
With no interest in helping what they call the ‘bum-fluff brigade’, they are focused on reducing razor rash and burn and eliminating that painful morning shave.
- Last up to 50 shaves
Leaves your skin rash free and smooth
Apply with brush or hands
Classic scent with a modern twist
Air travel compliant
This will tackle the toughest beard without any drag and with just one pass of your blade, leaving your face totally smooth.
- Fresh Heads
The renaissance of traditional barbering is seeing a return of classic barbering products, with a modern day twist.
Hair tonics make your hair look glossy and healthy as well as helping to hold your style. Massage a liberal dose of hair tonic into your scalp.
The Modern Gent by Fresh Heads hair tonics has a long lasting aroma which is smooth but subtle and uniquely distinctive. An invigorating, perfect start to your day.
- UPPERCUT DELUX
I just adore this brand.
Inspired by 1950s barbershops, surfing and skate culture this Australian brand is made from the finest ingredients.
Designed by two best friends who are barbers their timeless products make a man feel on top of his game. The Monster Hold Pomade is extra powerful for a supreme hold and sweat resistant.
Effortlessly cool and laid back – perfection.
